The Incas built Machu Picchu as an estate for their emperor Pachacuti and his wife Mama Ocllo to live in when they visited Cusco during festivals or other ceremonial events. Today it remains one of South America’s most popular tourist destinations

The Galapagos Islands are an archipelago of volcanic islands located in the Pacific Ocean, 600 miles off the coast of Ecuador. The islands are famous for their wildlife, including giant tortoises and marine iguanas.

The Galapagos National Park was established in 1959 to protect one of the richest ecosystems on Earth from over-development and tourism. It has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1984 because it contains so many unique species that can’t be found anywhere else in nature!
Easter Island
Easter Island is a Polynesian island in the southeastern Pacific Ocean. It has been inhabited for at least 3000 years, with evidence of settlement dating back to 900 AD. The island was settled by people from Marquesas who migrated there by canoe. The first settlers bred chickens and pigs, and eventually introduced plants from their home islands such as taro tubers, sweet potatoes and bananas.

Most of the population lived in small villages on the coastlines or around rivers that flow into lagoons that were used as water sources for agriculture (chiefly fishing). The only permanent settlement was Puna Pau (“high place”) which had high cliffs behind it where large statues stood before they were moved inland and buried under soil during times when food supplies became scarce due to drought conditions caused by El Niño events between 850-1200 CE
Atacama Desert

Atacama Desert is the driest place on Earth. It’s located in Chile and home to some of the most beautiful landscapes you’ll ever see. You can climb to high altitudes, where you’ll see stars like you’ve never seen before! The sand dunes create an amazing effect when viewed from above or below them (or even from within). The Atacama Desert also offers some great hiking opportunities; there are many trails that will take you through valleys filled with wildflowers and cacti.
